        -  we may see and smell smoke
        -  we may see a driver
        -  we may see white lights at the back of the car
        -  we may see the wheels turning
3.  Where the safest places to cross the road are  -
       -  traffic lights
       -  pedestrian crossing
4.  Who we should cross the road with  -
      -  someone 10 years or older
Then we went outside and practised the curb drill for crossing a road. Can you remember the curb drill? Here are some pictures to remind us.

Writing

Here are some photos of Room 15 completing independent Writing activities. These are the activities we do when we are not working with the teacher. Even though we are working independently we still need to practise all those things we know about being a writer like  -

.  Making a picture plan
.  Planning each idea 'out loud' so we write them as sentences
.  Spacing words
.  Sounding out unknown words
.  Checking our spelling by finding some words on a Word Card
.  Re-reading our stories to check they make sense
.  Using interesting words and sentences
.  Using our senses to add details
.  Choosing a title

One of our independent activities is Free Writing. When we do Free Writing we choose our own topic to write about.

Sometimes one of our independent activities is to write on the Computers or iPads. Here we are writing about ourselves using Maths data. We used counting so we could compare data we got from the class.

And . . . sometimes we write independently in our Writing Books.

Jump Jam

Every day after lunch the Year Two students do Jump Jam. We have been learning a new routine for the song Macarena. Thank you the students of Room 16 and Miss Carson for teaching us the moves!

Music

Every Thursday Room 15 has a Music lesson in the Music Room. Last Thursday we met our new Music Teacher Mrs Bickley. We learnt two new songs. One was about the seasons and the other one a nonsense rhyme. On Friday we got to sing the seasons song in the School Assembly with all the other students in the school. It sounded fantastic!

Here we are having lots of fun learning our new songs!

Today Room 15 attended their first Mandarin lesson with Miss Ko. The children learnt how to say "hello" "thank you" and "goodbye".
